Why the Celtics might not be the obvious option for AD…

By: Ben Meyerson

Anthony Davis wants out of New Orleans, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski “Anthony wants to be traded to a team that allows him a chance to win consistently and compete for a championship”, the potential landing spots are obvious Boston and LA (Lakers). Boston has the most assets (Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Horford, Irving, Rozier, Morris, Smart and 4 1-st round picks this upcoming draft) and Danny Ainge has been waiting for years to grab Davis . Although, Boston has the most to offer, the Pelicans already have a high asking price:

Jayson Tatum is a high asking price for Boston, they might be willing to give up Kyrie Irving before they give up Tatum. The fact is though he might be necessary to get it done depending on how high New Orleans values Brown. Good news for Boston though because he doesn’t want to get traded till the summer, Boston cannot trade for him until the summer unless they include Kyrie Irving (currently out of the question for Boston).

But according to Adrian Wojnarowski, “Pelicans officials are already privately expressing that the organization doesn’t feel pressure to move Davis before the Feb. 7 trade deadline”

Unfortunately Celtics fans, even though it looks like Anthony Davis will not be traded until the summer, the Celtics aren’t at the top of his list. Per Yahoo Sport’s Chris Haynes, “Regarding team preferences, Boston is not a top target for Davis, sources said. There’s a growing belief of uncertainty that Kyrie Irving will re-sign with Boston, sources said, even though he vowed to do so at the beginning of the season.”

If I didn’t throw enough information at you you should also know that the Knicks are interested. Apparently the Knicks and the Lakers are already starting to get offers ready for the Brow. A Knicks package would be centered around Kristaps Porzingis, Kevin Knox and the Knicks first round pick in the 2019 draft (which could yield Duke superstar Zion Williamson.

With all of this here are the things you should know:

  • The Celtics cannot trade for him until the summer
  • The Lakers should probably make this move before the deadline
  • The Knicks are a viable landing destination?!?
  • The Pelicans should just move to Seattle
  • Jrue Holiday should request a trade
  • Every NBA team should be getting offers ready
